College Counseling

At Prestans Online Academy, the mission of our college counseling team is to advise and support all students as they navigate the complex journey of college admissions.

For our full-time students, college counseling will start at the beginning of junior year. Our team will help guide students through every step of the process, including understanding the right fit for their personal and academic profile. Students are provided support with their college list, visits, applications, essays, and interview preparation. Prestans will also make recommendations for standardized testing.

For our credit-continuation students attending during their junior or senior year, families have the option of adding a college counselor to the academic plan. Our counselors will provide continuity and meet students wherever they are in the college admissions process.

Since the pandemic, we are seeing an increasing number of applications from online schools & programs–and those with a synchronous component and human interaction between teacher and student as well as between students certainly stand out in terms of connecting the dots of the rigor and experience of the applicant's high school profile. There are myriad reasons these days for students  to pursue online educational opportunities and again, those with a true interactive component certainly resonate with clarity of the program.

I am so grateful that Prestans was available when my daughter needed a flexible education plan. The program allowed her to seamlessly continue the coursework she had started at boarding school, prepare for college, and graduate on schedule. The Prestans’ teachers are of the same academic caliber as her boarding school teachers, and in fact, due to the individualized instruction, she feels that she learned more and formed closer bonds with her teachers than she would have in a traditional classroom setting. Her teachers and the Prestans’ administrators have been very supportive of our family and helpful in assisting our daughter to be admitted to her first choice college.
