COURSE DESCRIPTION:

AT Environmental Science is an advanced, yearlong science course that runs for 30 synchronous sessions with accompanying asynchronous work and assessments. This course is meant for students who are curious to learn more about the world around them, understand the positive and negative impacts of their actions, and envision sustainable solutions to address dilemmas resulting from climate change. This course will situate topics within the broader context of our ever-changing planet. Students’ attention to learning concepts through asynchronous work will allow them to come to synchronous sessions prepared to work with their teacher to discuss the application of these concepts. Throughout the course, there will be six Summative Assessments in the form of projects that will give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and practice the skills of scientific process, data literacy, critical thinking, and scientific literacy.
