Algebra 1 Online High School Course

COURSE LENGTH:

Full Year (30 Sessions)

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Prestans Online Academy, an accredited private online high school, offers Algebra 1, a math course designed to introduce motivated students to the foundations of abstract algebraic thinking central to problem solving and developing critical thinking.

Mastering the skills and concepts of Algebra is essential to life as a 21st century citizen. You may not realize it yet, but Algebra is foundational to any future exploration of math, the physical and social sciences, and business. It is very helpful in a multitude of daily scenarios. Most importantly, Algebra enhances your powers of creativity, logic, and observation all of which are habits of mind paramount to living a fulfilled and empowered life as a modern citizen.

This course builds on prior knowledge of concrete mathematical concepts to develop abstract algebraic understandings. Students will be introduced to new topics as tools for problem solving and develop critical thinking skills that will serve as a foundation for future math courses. Topics studied include: linear equations, linear inequalities, graphing systems of linear equations, powers, factoring, radicals, quadratic equations, rational expressions and exponential growth and decay.
